Early Childhood

The Gonski Institute for Education works closely with UNSW's Social Policy Research Centre to conduct research focusing on equitable access to early education.

Our current early education research projects include:

  • Equitable Access to High Quality Childhood Education: This research will investigate high quality Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) services for children in disadvantaged communities and translate these findings into practice and policy that encourages families in these communities to use ECER services.
  • What Does Success Mean for Aboriginal Children in NSW Preschools?: This research focuses on the participation of Aboriginal children in preschool education. It will conduct preliminary work establishing relationships with Aboriginal communities to enable research on Aboriginal priorities for children regarding early education. This will enable the development of a larger research project that addresses Aboriginal community concerns with methods developed with participating communities, to examine how preschool can better meet the needs of Aboriginal children.
