Empowering School Leaders and Teachers to drive practice and capacity - Integrating The Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (APST) in improving teaching and school capacity.

This professional learning workshop will be held over two days in May 2020. Day 1 and 2 are stand-alone events and attendees can choose to attend one, some or all of the days provided.

Day 1: 11 May 2020

Day 2: 12 May 2020

The Australian Professional Standards for Teachers describe the knowledge, skills and understanding expected of competent and effective teachers. This professional learning program focuses on strategic, visionary and hands-on approaches to embedding the standards to esteem our teachers and profession; build professional growth; facilitate collaboration and coherence; create mentors  and develop instructional leaders. The learning will explore ways to plan and implement programs, evaluations and organisation to improve and share practice.

 

Mark Grant - CEO AITSL - opening address

Break out sessions in the afternoon will be led by HALTS, for school leaders, teachers and colleagues interested in pursuing higher accreditation and/or having a deeper understanding of the standards and how to embed them. 

 

Speakers over the two days include Mark Grant, Emma Mansfield, Belinda Giudice, Melinda Haskett, Karen Endicott, Amanda DeCarli, Lila Mularczyk, Karen Graham and Abby Saleh. The Grattan Institute will also be presenting at this workshop.

This course is accredited by the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) for 6 hours of professional learning at Lead Teacher level.
